A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a mechanic who was stabbed to death in Harlesden.

Dwayne King, 29, is accused of killing 55-year-old Granville Thomas in an alleyway which runs behind Ranelagh Road and Station Road, on June 29.

The married father, who was also known as ‘Rat’ or ‘Blacks’, worked as a mechanic at a garage based in Ranelagh Road.

King, of no fixed address, appeared at the Old Bailey last week.

He was remanded in custody to appear for a plea and case management hearing on September 25.

Detective Chief Inspector Noel McHugh, who is leading the investigation, has renewed a witness appeal.

He said: “I continue to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area as well as witnesses to the stabbing to contact us as soon as possible.”
