Police are to increase targeted stop-and-searches and weapon sweeps in the borough following two fatal stabbings in Brent in three days.
Chief Superintendent Mickey Gallagher, borough commander, told the Times they are carrying out the proactive measures to tackle knife crime in the borough.
On Sunday 17-year-old Che Labastide-Wellington was stabbed to death outside a party in Belvedere Way, Kenton.
A 16-year-old boy who was also attacked survived and is in hospital in a stable condition.
Last thursday, Haile Lunga was ambushed and killed in a knife attack in Watling Gardens, Kilburn.
Three males, including a boy of 14, have been charged with his murder.
Police are not connecting the two deaths.
Chief Supt Gallagher said: “My officers will be carrying out more targeted stop and search of those suspected of carrying weapons, more search warrants being executed to disrupt those intent on causing harm and more searches of open spaces to retrieve concealed weapons.
“My message is very clear. Any loss of life under these circumstances is not acceptable and cannot be justified. My officers are committed to tackling knife crime on the borough and keeping Londoners safe.”
Three boys age 14, 15 and 16 who wrested in connection with Che’s killing have been bailed to return to a police station.
A 21-year-old who was arrested on suspicion of Che’s murder today is currently in police custody.
