Police have issued warning following reports of distraction burglars targeting elderly and vulnerable residents in the Dollis Hill area.
The crooks are posing as gas or water engineers to trick their way into people’s homes before one of them distracts the victim while the others steals their valuables.
They typically carry out their cowardly acts in groups of two or three.
The ward’s Safer Neighbourhood Team are advising residents not to let in any unexpected visitors but speak to them through a chained door or a small open window.
They are also being urged to check their ID cards and if they are still unsure to call the company they are claiming to work for.
