A distraught mother whose 11-year-old daughter was “deliberately” mown down by a motorist as she walked home on her first day of secondary school is urging witnesses to come forward.

Kiana Duncan-Millwood suffered multiple bruising and a bleed surrounding her brain after a silver Mercedes mounted a pavement in Preston Hill on Tuesday and struck her, her older brother Keiran before racing off.

The Year 7 school girl had just been picked up from Claremont High School, in Claremont Avenue, by her 29-year-old brother and next door neighbour at 1.30pm following her first day at her new school.

Their mother, Cynthia Duncan, a nursery manager, said: “I’m fuming I’m angry and upset. Her face is swollen she’s got scars all down her arms, her body is sensitive and tender, she doesn’t want to eat she’s vomiting, she’s got a line of blood around her brain they say will go down with the swelling. I’m not supposed to be sitting here saying this about my child who I’ve sent to school. My son is shaking, crying, mum I can’t believe it I almost had to tell you your daughter was dead’ I’m so sorry,’ is all he’s saying. That’s not right.”

The 46-year-old said Keiran had noticed a “boy racer” driving erratically near the school and told him to stop saying “can’t you see there are school children around here?” The motorist lay in wait for them after they turned a corner and another argument broke out.

Ms Duncan added: “The next thing they could hear people shouting at them to get out of the way. My son looked over his shoulder and this same person is driving to knock them over and that’s how my daughter got hit. You don’t drive on the opposite side of the road on the pavement, knocking people down.

“That’s a deliberate act of I’m trying to kill you. You don’t use your car as a weapon or tool.”

She added: “This person needs to be found and locked up for life. He tried to kill my children all because he was spoken to about how he was driving around school kids. I’m devastated.

“Anybody whose got any information, please come forward and give it to the police.

And him, come and hand yourself in. You tried to kill these people for nothing. How can you eat, breathe, sleep knowing what you’ve done?”

A police spokesperson said: ”The car did not stop at the scene and is alleged to have deliberately targeted the pedestrians.”

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.
