A second man has arrested today in connection with the murder of a Syrian preacher who was shot dead in Wembley.

The 61-year-old is being questions by counter terrorism officers on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder following the death of Abdul Hadi Arwani.

The father-of-six, an outspoken critic of the Assad regime in Syria, was found in a car in The Greenhill, at the junction of The Paddocks, on April 7.

Detectives are also carrying out a search of the An Noor Cultural and Community Centre in Acton, west London, which is the mosque were Mr Arwani previously served as imam from 2005-2011.

They are also searching a number of other addresses in London.

Today, Leslie Cooper, 36, of Nightingale Road, Harlesden, appeared at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court charged with Mr Arwani’s murder.

He was remanded in custody to appear at The Old Bailey in the next 48 hours.
