Man jailed for turning Kingsbury home into cannabis factory

A Vietnamese man who converted his rented home in Kingsbury into a cannabis factory and stole electricity to grow the plants has been jailed.
Hieu Nguyen, 47, faces deportation after he serves his 12 month sentence after he admitted producing of cannabis and abstracting electricity at his home in Evelyn Avenue.
He was caught after officers from Welsh Harp Neighbourhoods Policing Team stormed his home following complaints from residents of a strong cannabis smell.
Inside they found more than 200 of the Class B plants in four rooms.
Nguyen was arrested and charged.
He appeared at Harrow Crown Court last week where he pleaded guilty.
PC Roisin Daly said: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank local residents regarding this matter and also to advise landlords to remain vigilant as it is common for rental properties to be used for this type of crime.”
