A mother from Harlesden is due to appeared at the Old Bailey today accused of trying to send £16,500 to fund alleged Islamic terrorists fighting in Syria.

Amal El-Wahabi, 27, of Rucklidge Avenue, and Nabal Masaad, 26, from Holloway, north London, allegedly tried to send 20,000 Euros to a suspected British jihadi fighting in the Middle Eastern country’s civil war.

Masaad was arrested at Heathrow Airport on January 16 and close friend El-Wahabi, an unemployed mother-of-two, was detained later at her home.

The women are both charged with becoming concerned in an arrangement as a result of which money was made available or was to be made available to another, and they knew or had reasonable cause to suspect that it would or may be used for the purposes of terrorism.

The alleged offences under the Terrorism Act are said to have occurred between January 13 and 16.

The women, who are British of Moroccan descent, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court last week where they remanded in custody to appear before the Old Bailey today.
