The grieving family of an Ecuadorian man who was killed in Willesden Green are pleading for justice as they try to come to terms with his death.

Ronald Cardenas died from multiple injuries on December 17 after being hit by a Mercedes C Class car in Willesden Lane at the junction with Walm Lane in Willesden Green.

Another woman was critically injured but has since been discharged from hospital.

Mr Cardenas, a 32-year-old web designer, had moved to the UK for a “better life” four years ago.

His grieving family launched a crowdfunding page to repatriate his body back to Ecuador.

His aunt, Soraya Burgos said: “We want justice. His mother and his family are destroyed.”

The 33-year-old male driver of the car that hit Mr Cardenas was taken to hospital suffering minor injuries before he was discharged.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink drinking and has been bailed to return to a police station later this month.

His male passenger who fled the scene after the crash has since been traced and has not been arrested.

Detectives continue to appeal for witnesses, or anyone with any information, to contact them on 020 8991 9555 or 101.
