Residents are being warned about distraction burglars

Residents are being warned about a pair of distraction burglars who are posing at British Gas workers to trick their way into homes in Brent.

Safety advice

If you’re not sure, don’t open the door and never let an unsolicited caller into your home without a prior appointment.

Always ask to see an identity card and check it carefully.

If in any doubt, use a number from a telephone directory or their official website and double check.

Genuine callers will not mind waiting or coming back at a later date.

The two men arrive in a black Audi A3 with one wearing a fake employee lanyard to dupe his victims.

After he has gained entry he distracts his victim which allows his accomplice to sneak in.

Officers are warning residents not to let anyone into their home until they have confirmed their identity with the company they claim to work for.

The pair are thought to have targeted several addresses in the NW10 area.

Earlier this week the Times put out an alert about distraction burglars in the Dollis Hill area.
