Woman in court accused of pushing human rights lawyer to his death

A CRICKLEWOOD woman accused of pushing a transexual under a Tube train is actually a man undergoing a sex change, a court heard.

Nina Kanagasingham, 34, of Chichele Road, Cricklewood, appeared before the Old Bailey today (Monday) charged with murdering 63-year-old David Burgess at king’s Cross Station.

Mr Burgess, who preferred to be known as Sonia, was a leading human rights lawyer and a father-of-three.

He fell to his death in front of shock commuters at 6.30pm last Monday.

Kanagasingham, who appeared unshaven, appeared at the short bail hearing but did not make a bail application.

Judge Timothy Pontius noted: “The defendant is in the process of undergoing a sex change. Has it been completed?’

Defence barrister David Kitson replied: “No”

The judge added: “How does the defendant wished to be called?’

Mr Kitson replied: “By her female name of Nina.”

Kanagasingham will return to court for a plea and case management hearing on February 3, next year.
