Achraf Jandara is accused of murdering Shaun Akanbi founder of Billy Boyce clothing

A fashion designer was stabbed to death in his Kilburn flat by a man he arranged to meet for sex off Facebook a court has heard.

Jurors at the Old Bailey was told Achraf Jandara, 20, allegedly murdered 26 year-old Shaun Akanbi and ransacked his flat in Exeter Road, of everything he could carry.

The Moroccan was captured on CCTV walking off with a rucksack and trolley bag and dressed in a jacket bearing the logo of Mr Akanbi’s Billy Boyce fashion label.

Mr Akanbi’s body was found two day later on December 20 last year.

The victim, who founded Billy Boyce in 2009, had been stabbed five times.

The police investigation allegedly revealed Mr Akanbi had invited Jandara back to his flat after swapping flirty messages with him over Facebook.

Prosecutor Peter Finnigan QC said: “The apparent purpose of the meeting was connected to proposed or actual sexual activity. The motive for the murder was very likely robbery.”

CCTV cameras captured Jandara following Mr Akanbi back to his flat at around 10.15pm, it is claimed.

He was arrested on January 4 this year but told police he did not know Mr Akanbi and had never been to his flat.

But he changed his story after detectives found his footprint in the victim’s flat and his DNA on a mug in the bedroom, the court heard.

He now claims that he innocently came across the body after the murder, jurors were told.

Describing Mr Akanbi, Mr Finnigan said: “He was very likely homosexual or possibly bisexual although this may not have been know to his flatmates and friends.

“The police investigation into his murder has established he sometimes used a chat site aimed at black gay males, BGC.’

Jandara from Camberwell, southeast London, denies murder.

The trial continues.
