Circumstances surrounding the death of Queen’s Park mother in balcony fall remains ‘unknown’

The circumstances surrounding the death of a pregnant woman in a fall in Queen’s Park will remain ‘unknown’ following a two-day inquest.
Georgina Drinkwater, 30, was five months pregnant with her third child when she plummeted nearly 33ft to the pavement from the balcony on her third floor flat in Orpheus House in Harrow Road.
Ms Drinkwater had texted friend Claire Wilson telling her that partner Robert Weldon was ‘on his drunk aggressive thing’ just three minutes before she fell to her death in February 2014.
Several of her friends told a two-day inquest at Westminster Coroner’s Court that Mr Weldon had a drink problem and was regularly violent to Ms Drinkwater.
Mr Weldon, 26, claimed his partner had tried to climb from the third balcony to the second and slipped when quizzed by police.
He was arrested at the scene but there was insufficient evidence to charge him with any offence.
Yesterday Assistant Coroner Russell Caller recorded an open verdict saying: “The evidence I have heard is not sufficient to provide a conclusion.
“The exact circumstances remain unknown”
Ms Drinkwater’s mother Pauline Tio had told the inquest how her daughter, known affectionately as Georgy, became isolated after she began dating Mr Weldon.
She blasted the authorities for letting her daughter down and claimed to have voiced her fears to police 12 months before
She also highlighted her ‘need to see justice for Georgina who is no longer here to defend herself’.
In a statement released last night she added: “Georgy was my beautiful daughter, the only love of my life.
“She was a beautiful, intelligent, articulate, funny, kind, independent, loving daughter, mother, niece, cousin, friend and woman.
‘She is greatly missed by her loved ones. Georgy was the love of my life and always will be.”
