A trio of Kilburn-based community organisations are raising money to install a digital notice board to highlight local events to residents.

The Kingsgate Community Centre, South Kilburn Trust and Kilburn Neighbourhood Plan Forum are working together to receive a £32,000 grant from the Mayor of London’s High Street Fund and to raise money through the crowd funding website spacehive.

The notice board will be located opposite the Kilburn High Road Overground station and will highlight activities at the library, theatre, cinema and local entertainment, as well as allowing businesses to advertise affordably.

Peter Williams, chairman of Kingsgate Community Centre, said: “Places like the Tricycle Theatre, library and local retailers can advertise, while community members will have a place to learn about what is going on in the area.”

Mark Allan, chief executive of the South Kilburn Trust said it will give small businesses and traders in Kilburn a chance to advertise on a larger scale.

Mary Arnold, steering group member from the Kilburn Neighbourhood Plan Forum, added: ‘We are dedicated to this project because we, as an organisation, want to encourage growth in this neighbourhood. It’s not just us, however; this is an initiative by the community, for the community.’’

Both Brent and Camden Councils are supportive of the project.
