Chris Ramsey has reiterated he is the right man to take QPR forward as they look to rebuild following relegation from the Premier League.

Rangers have made a solid start to the season lying sixth in the Championship after back-to-back league wins.

But the west London side’s miserable cup run continued on Tuesday night at Loftus Road as they lost 2-1 to Carlisle United in the Capital One Cup, the seventh time in 10 seasons they have been knocked out of the League Cup by lower-league opposition.

That led to some fans criticising Ramsey on social media, questioning his team selection for the game and whether he is the right man for the job.

Ramsey, though, finds it hard to fathom such criticism considering how early on it is into his managerial reign at the club.

He said: “If after this short spell some people are thinking that already I’d be very disappointed - but that’s life. I think we’ve started the season quite well, but maybe that’s just me.

“I’ve been involved in football 37 years and I’ve seen people come and go, so nothing surprises me really.

“Jose Mourinho was going on an open top bus eight weeks ago and up until last week he wasn’t the right man.

“The only time I’ll be concerned about that is when the owners tap me on the shoulder and ask me to leave.

“I understand football is a fickle business and the arena I’m in. If some people don’t think I’m the right man there’s nothing I can really do about that, I suppose their always going to think like that.”
