A child has been taken to hospital for smoke inhalation following a house fire in Stonebridge Park.

Seven people escaped the terraced house in Bruce Road before the fire brigade arrived at 2.50pm this afternoon.

Four fire engines and 21 firefighters tackled the blaze which damaged the first floor and loft of the terraced property.

The flames were under control by 4.10pm.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
