More than 1,000 ladies took part in an annual sponsored walk to raise a six-figure sum for a charity in Kenton.
A total of 1,200 females participated in the nine-mile long Midnight Walk on Friday, raising more than £160,000 for St Luke’s Hospice in Kenton Road.
Wearing distinctive pink t-shirts the walkers made their way through the heart of Harrow in memory of their loved ones.
Elizabeth Hallissey, Katherine Alcock, Siobhan Donnellan, Elena Torroni and Anna Torroni took part in the walk in memory of their grandmother Eileen Hallissey who died on April 11.
Ms Hallissey said: “We spent a lot of time at the hospice in those weeks and had all agreed to sign up for the walk because of how incredible St Luke’s and the amazing staff there.
“Nanny was proud of us giving something back.
“We will always be grateful for the dignified care they gave; it was the only place she wanted to be.”
Pam Russell, St Luke’s director of fundraising, added: “It is fantastic to see groups and individuals from all sections of our community coming together to support their local hospice.
!I would like to thank all of the volunteers who worked together to register and entertain the walkers, encourage and look after them while they walk, provide refreshments at the rest stops on the way round, and serve 1,200 breakfasts when they all return.”
