A burst water main has caused part of the carriageway to collapse in Chamberlayne Road in Kensal Rise, closing the road to the public.

The road near Kensal Rise station was due to close for a month from Monday until mid-Feburary as part of planned Thames Water maintenance works.

But the burst main at the junction of Buller Road has brought forward the closure by three days as the fault is unlikely to be fixed before Monday, Brent Council announced this afternoon.

Residents are set for at least a month of bus and traffic diversions with Chamberlayne Road closed between Bannister Road and Buller Road, and number 28, 52, 316 and 452 buses diverted until February 12.

On February 15 until mid-March, the diversions will continue while Banister Road is closed at the junction of Chamberlayne Road.

Large scale diversions will be in place and buses will be rerouted.

Traffic on Chamberlayne Road will be controlled using two-way temporary signals.
