A train depot in Old Oak Common is celebrating its 111th-year anniversary with an open day this Saturday to raise money for a children’s charity.
On what promises to be a great family day out, the Old Oak Common Depot’s unique collection of trains will be on display along with fun fair rides, entertainment, stalls, children’s activities and locomotive naming ceremonies.
The depot first opened in 1906 and has maintained a unique collection of steam, diesel, and electric locomotives that make up the Legends of the Great Western Railway.
Staff serviced everything from steam era Kings and Castles to the diesel-powered Westerns and Warships.
In 1976 the depot also became the region’s maintenance hub for new High Speed Trains and will soon be replaced after more than 40 years service.
The OOC Open Day – Legends Of The Great Western event runs from 10am-4pm.
Tickets are now on sale for £20 and £10 for children.
All proceeds are going to Place2Be, which provides mental health support for children and whose patron is the Duchess of Cambridge.
