Campaigners are inviting residents to join them and celebrate the first birthday of a community library in Wembley.

Friends of Barham Library (FOBL) will be holding a special event on Saturday to mark the opening of the reading room in the High Road.

The library, which is run by volunteers, was opened after Brent Council closed Braham Library and five other branches in the borough to save £1million in 2011.

A bid by FOBL to take over the axed site was rejected by the council but they have vowed to continue their fight to find a permanent home.

Celebrations will take place between 11am – 1pm.
