Brent Samaritans will be on hand to support people in need over the busy festive period and on Christmas Day.

Borough volunteers will be among the hundreds of Samaritans answering calls from the most vulnerable people over Christmas.

While Christmas is usually a time of shared joy and family togetherness, for many, it can be a period of great loneliness and isolation according to the charity.

The charity is expecting around 15,000 calls a day are expected during the festive season to Samaritans branches in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Stephen Hoddell, national chair of the Samaritans, said: “This time of year can be an incredibly difficult time and we want to let people know that Samaritans is here if things are getting to them.

“When many other services shut down for the holidays, our volunteers continue to be available, answering calls round the clock.”

People can donate to the Samaritans by texting SUPPORT to 70123.
