This week I want to update you with positive news about our performance in reducing crime in Brent and highlight some of the activity we are doing to make residents and visitors to Brent feel safer.

The borough is experiencing significant long term reductions in burglary, robbery and theft from person.

Robbery is down 13.6 per cent, burglary is down 33.6pc and theft person is down 33.5pc. MOPAC 7 crime is down 22.6pc which exceeds the target set for reduction which was 20pc.

I am very proud of the work of my team to achieve such positive performance. Despite these significant achievements peoples homes do continue to be burgled and vehicles get stolen or broken into.

Brent Police remains steadfast in our commitment to drive down crime, arrest offenders and if you are unfortunate enough to become a victim of crime provide all the support we can.

The role out of Metrace kits to provide additional crime prevention continues across London and Brent police have a dedicated delivery team.

If you have any property that is valuable please mark it with your post code, house or flat number and register items with a serial number at immobolise.com.

We have seen in recent weeks a number of violent incidents across the borough.

The use of firearms and shootings is abhorrent and is the number one priority for Brent police. Gun crime does remain low in the UK and we have achieved significant reductions in gun enabled crime across London and in Brent.

Brent Police has committed a large number of officers to patrol the areas of the borough affected by this issue.

We are being supported by officers from Operation Trident, Mounted Branch, specialist interceptor cars and the territorial support group. The activity has seen no firearms discharges or serious violence in the targeted areas. We will continue to commit resources to ensure the community in Brent feels safe and those responsible are bought to justice.

We have made a number of significant arrests and continue to target those involved in gun enabled criminality.

Brent Police is working hard with our partners in both the local authority and community to ensure that young people effected by gangs and gun crime are offered meaningful alternatives and diverted away from criminal activity.
