Santhaya Kugathas and Tahya Lawrence scoop bursaries from The Mayor’s Fund for Young Musicians
A pair of young musicians hit the right note with the judges to win prestigious scholarships.
Violinist Santhaya Kugathas, 10, a pupil at Preston Park Primary School in College Road, Wembley, and clarinet player Tahya Lawrence, 10, who goes to Salusbury Primary School in Salusbury Road, Queen’s Park, were presented with their scholarships from The Mayor’s Fund for Young Musicians by British double bass player Chi-chi Nwanokwu MBE.
The scholarships – worth �4,000 each – will go towards paying for four-years of instrumental tuition both at school and at a Saturday morning music centre.
They are part of London-wide scholarships totalling �266,000.
