Crusaders are battling to reopen closed branch
A group of pensioners has helped crusaders aiming to raise thousands of pounds to re-open an axed library in Wembley.
Brent Pensioners Forum has donated 50 to the Friends of Barham Library (FOBL), who are raising the 25,000 needed to reclaim the library which was put on the market by Brent Council last month.
FOBL has since been asking residents and businesses to help with contributions of between 25 and 500.
Vi Steele, forum chairman, said: “Getting Barham Library back is very important for our local community.”
Barham Library in Barham Park, Harrow Road, was closed last year alongside five reading rooms saving the local authority 1million.
