Visitors to Brent Cross can now add some spirituality to their day’s shopping with the launch of a new multi-faith prayer and quiet room.
Faith leaders and the local community gathered in Brent Cross Shopping Centre on Monday for the cutting of the ribbon.
The sparsely furnished private room in the centre’s bustling space is open to all faiths and none.
The outside is covered in artwork called ‘Unity in Diversity’ by artist Siddiya Juma.
Shopping chiefs felt the prayer room, which is open during regular shopping hours, would strengthen ties with the local community.
Tom Nathan, general manager of Brent Cross, said: “Brent Cross is at the heart of North London and we are proud to welcome shoppers from all different cultures to the centre. We recognise the importance of catering to the needs of our multi-faith shoppers and we are pleased to welcome a whole host of communities to use our new prayer room.”
