First they used double yellow lines, then hogged disabled bays and now one of Brent Council’s CCTV cars has been captured parked dangerously to nab parents on the school run.

The CCTV car was pictured double parked in Purves Road, Kensal Rise, right opposite Princess Frederica Primary School last week.

Its timing of 3pm, just before school is over, has been slammed by the angry resident who took this photograph.

Claiming it was posing a potential danger to school children, they said: “I appreciate the need for CCTV cars but not when they are so irresponsible and causing a hazard for kids.”

A driver of one of the CCTV cars made a hasty retreat when he realised he had been spotted parking in a disabled bay in Harlesden two weeks ago.

The resident who captured the vehicle hogging the space, which is reserved for blue badge holders, said: “It’s a joke that they can park wherever they want, an absolute joke.”

In the past the cars have been pictured parked on double-yellow lines, leading to accusations of hypocrisy.

Barrie Segal, who runs his own parking campaign group, previously told the Times: “Council workers are given exemptions to behave in the most ignorant manner. If any other motorist did this it would be considered dangerous to the public.”

Cllr Muhammed Butt, leader of Brent Council, said: “Civil enforcement officers have a statutory exemption from parking restrictions in order to carry out their duties.”

“Our parking enforcement service plays an important role in maintaining the flow of traffic and creating safer streets for our community.”
