Brent Council are planning to double the fine handed out to anyone caught fly-tipping in the borough.

If approved, culprits could face a maximum fine of £400 instead of the current £200.

The proposals will be discussed at a cabinet meeting on October 24 where it will be either approved or rejected.

Cllr Eleanor Southwood, Brent Council’s cabinet member for environment, said: “Just like many of our residents, I am proud to live in Brent. That’s why I want to keep the area I live in clean and free of rubbish.

“By increasing the penalty for fly-tipping, we’re sending a very clear message that the council are taking the concerns of our residents’ seriously.”
