The leader of Brent Council and the mayor officially launched the borough’s Poppy Appeal today.

Cllr Muhammed Butt and Cllr Parvez Ahmed are urging residents, businesses and visitors to buy a poppy in support of the Royal British Legion which provide advice and support for modern veterans, service men, women and their families.

Cllr Ahmed, who became the mayor in May, added: “The Poppy Appeal is our chance to remember and thank everyone who has given their lives over the years and those that continue to do so.

“We always have great support for the campaign and I encourage people to donate as much as possible for such a worthy cause. I look forward to seeing all those poppies being worn throughout Brent.”

Residents can also show their support by attending the borough’s Remembrance Service which will be held in Barham Park on November 13 at 2pm.
