Brent Council has emergency teams ready and waiting around the clock to respond to any severe weather related problems following predictions of further storms and potential flooding across England this week.

Town hall bosses are reassuring residents that robust plans are in place to deal with all manner of emergencies is needed.

A fleet of trained and coordinated teams can be dispatched immediately should the borough be hit by a storm and measures are in place to deal with everything from flooding to emergency homeless cases.

The council also have a ready supply of salt and gritting teams are on standby should the weather deteriorate further.

Cllr Muhammed Butt, Leader of Brent Council, said: “We want residents to enjoy the New Year celebrations and to feel assured that the council and its partners have robust plans in place to deal with any severe weather related emergency.

“I would encourage local people to do what they can to have a safe and enjoyable break by keeping an eye on the weather forecast and following advice. Please also look out for elderly neighbours who are most vulnerable during these times.”

The council has worked closely with our emergency partners; the police, fire brigade and ambulance service to ensure plans are in place to assist them in their duties.

Their emergency team is encouraging residents to visit www.brent.gov.uk/emergencies to ensure local people know who to call or what services are available in the event of an emergency.
