Leader of the council Muhammed Butt has spoken of his “delight,” at Brent surpassing the national average in its A-level results.

The borough increased its pass rate from 97 percent to 99pc despite seeing an increase in the number of entries from last year. The national average is 98.1pc,

And the percentage of exams graded between A* and B also beat the national average, with 54pc of Brent exams being given the grades compared with 53pc nationally.

“I am delighted that our students in Brent are achieving A Level results that surpass the national average,” said Cllr Butt.

“These results are a testament to the hard work of our young people in Brent and also that of the many dedicated teachers, staff and governors who have helped them along the way.

“This is an exciting time for those who have received their results and I wish them the very best for the next step in their lives.”
