A brave woman with a burning ambition to compete a list of extreme activities before she turns 60 will walk on coals in aid of a Kenton charity.
Fiona Bay will participate in St Luke’s Hospice’s fire and glass walk challenge where gutsy fundraisers step barefooted across a 30ft bed of 1200⁰F hot coals or a 30ft bed of broken glass.
All money raised will go to the hospice in Kenton Grange.
The 59-year-old set herself 60 challenges to partake in before she reaches her milestone birthday on November 12.
Her fiery challenge is the last on her list.
Ms Bay said: “Since the end of March I have been making my way through a list of 60 challenges, all to be completed by my 60th birthday.
“All of them have either taken me out of my comfort zone at the very least, or scared the living daylights out of me!
“I decided to participate in the event because fire walking was on my ‘60 list’.”
So far the activities she have accomplished include gliding, spider phobia course at London Zoo sailing lesson, graffiti class, motorbike course, ukulele class, belly dancing, scuba diving, indoor skydiving, Spitfire and Boeing 737 flight simulators, walking the O2 roof, cycling, clay pigeon shooting, archery, axe-throwing, and Jet Lev Flying - a new Extreme water sport which was her favourite.
She added: “I am woman of extremes and I am extremely excited about the opportunity to do this challenge and at the same time raise funds for the hospice.
“In other words, if I don’t manage it on the first attempt, I will have to keep trying until I am successful.
“This is not good for my poor feet but it will be a privilege to raise as much money as possible for St Luke’s.”
