After what has been another hectic transfer window for QPR, with no fewer than 13 additions to the squad, we can all now relax after an excellent recruitment process.

Although a number of deals didn’t get done before the start of the season, it has been one of the most refreshing summers at Loftus Road for a long time. It began with big earners such as Joey Barton, Bobby Zamora and Shaun Wright-Phillips departing the club, with a healthy blend of young, hungry players and those who have solid Championship experience coming in.

Two of the most exciting signings arrived first in Massimo Luongo and Ben Gladwin. While the latter has been struggling with injury, the former already seems to be a fans’ favourite at Loftus Road after a series of impressive performances.

Speaking of fans’ favourites, the tireless Jamie Mackie also returned to the club and will certainly add an element of dynamism. He was the best player on the field on the opening day of the season at Charlton and will only complement a strong set of attacking options.

The signing that generated the most buzz, and has arguably been the best performer so far, is the Dutch playmaker Tjaronn Chery. Chery has scored three goals in his last two games, with his excellent footwork and pace already proving to be a threat.

Elsewhere, QPR wrapped up deals for the experienced trio Alex Smithies, James Perch and Paul Konchesky. Smithies may struggle to get into the side this season, but I am sure it won’t be too long before he is QPR’s No1. The jury still seems to be out on the two full-backs, Perch and Konchesky, but they have played well in their last two games and hopefully that will continue now they are settled in.

The last two deals to be completed, and two that I am personally very excited about, are Gabriele Angella and Daniel Tozser. The disheartened reaction of the Watford fans when these two left speaks volumes as to how good they can be in a Championship side. They will both fit in well with Chris Ramsey’s new style of play.

Other incomings include former Spurs defender Grant Hall, German striker Sebastian Polter, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Oscar Gobern, who has now joined Doncaster Rovers on loan.

With deadline day over, it may also feel like QPR have two new signings in Charlie Austin and Matt Phillips. Keeping these two may just prove to be the best piece of business the club has done this summer.
