A community hub has opened in Kingsbury where people can eat, knit or simply hang out and chat.

Brent North MP Barry Gardiner cut the ribbon at the launch of the new community kitchen, based at the Lindsay Park Baptist Church in The Mall, at the opening on September 23.

Puppet making, knitting and face painting were just a few of the many activities enjoyed, giving a glimpse on what is on offer. Live music and a free barbecue and cakes added to the enjoyment.

The service operates every Wednesday from 1pm-3pm where anyone can come in for a free lunch, provided through the food waste charity Fareshare,

Brent Foodbank also relaunched its service on the same day.

Mr Gardiner said: “I was delighted to be invited to open the new Community Kitchen which is open to everyone within the local community. It provides a free light lunch, and gives people the opportunity to meet new friends whilst playing board games, knitting, engaging in craft work or just chatting.”
