Police are increasing the number of armed officers at Wembley Stadium this weekend ahead of the FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea.
Following the attack at the Manchester Arena that killed 22 people and left 59 others injured at an Ariana Grande concert on Monday night, a full review of security and policing at the national stadium is underway as it prepares to host three matches in three days.
Police said the review will “include the deployment of extra armed officers”.
The three matches kick off with the Emirates FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea on Saturday, Exeter and Blackpool will meet at a League Two play off final on Sunday and on Monday Huddersfield and Reading will battle it out at the Championship play off final for a place in the Premier League.
An FA spokesperson said: “Fan safety is of paramount importance and we have robust security measures in place at Wembley Stadium. In collaboration with the Metropolitan Police and the local authorities there will be an enhanced security operation for all upcoming events.
“All supporters are encouraged to arrive for events at Wembley Stadium as early as possible for security checks and to avoid any delays in entering the stadium.”
