A football coach from Wembley has been awarded a champions award in recognition of all his hard work.

Keith Gussy Young was given the award by Brent Council and celebrated at a ceremony at the Brent Civic Centre, in Engineers Way, on Wednesday.

The Brent Community Champions Awards are held annually to honour and recognise individuals who have given outstanding community and voluntary service in Brent.

The 54-year-old full time warehouse manager has worked for Brent School’s football for 30 years, and Middlesex schools football. He is also a talent scout for Tottenham Hotspur, going to watch young players and taking them to trials.

The dedicated youth worker has run youth clubs in the borough for 18 years and co-runs Roots Fm, a local community radio station based in Harlesden.

Mr Gussy Young said: “I’m so honoured to be awarded. I grew up in Brent and I’ve lived here all my life. There are alot of people out there who do great work but to win something is great, it’s really good to be recognised.

It’s a passion for me to work with young people and put something back in the area.
