A £500 donation has made sure homeless kittens at an animal rescue centre will not go hungry.
The mild winter has seen more kittens born than usual for the time of year, sadly leading to more being abandoned as well.
The Mayhew Animal Home in Trenmar Gardens, Kensal Green, has taken in many of the unwanted strays, but feeding so many hungry mouths comes at a cost. However, a prize draw win of £500 means the charity will no longer struggle to feed the felines.
Mayhew’s head of animal welfare, Gillian Notton, said: “It was a big event when we found out that we’d won. The mild winter meant kitten season came much earlier than usual and lots have turned up at our door.
“With so many hungry mouths to feed, we’re very grateful for this donation and we plan to put it towards cat food and housing for our new arrivals.” Registered animal charities can take part in the monthly draw organised by pet insurance provider Petplan.
