A man has been arrested after a ‘large machete’ was reportedly found in Wembley Central, reports London Now.

Police tried to stop a man who ran away from police near High Road on Tuesday (March 10).

After the short pursuit on foot, the man was safely detained by officers.

He was searched on the spot in which an “offensive weapon” was found, reports our sister-site London Now.

It follows viral footage shared online showing a man being searched by five officers and a ‘large machete’ being recovered outside the J.J. Moon’s Wetherspoon pub in Wembley.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: “On Tuesday 10th March 2026, officers on patrol in High Road, Wembley attempted to stop a male who immediately ran from police. A short foot chase followed and the male was safely detained.

“A Section 1 PACE search was carried out, during which officers recovered an offensive weapon. The male was arrested and taken into custody where further enquiries are ongoing.

“Our officers remain committed to keeping Wembley safe by taking proactive action to remove weapons from our streets.

“If you see suspicious behaviour, please report it via 101, 999 in an emergency, or anonymously to Crimestoppers.”
