Buying property in London is not for the faint-hearted.

Aside from the hiked-up property prices to find the perfect spot that is close to transport links, local amenities and affordable, the London property market is a constant battle.

While many first-time buyers in the region struggle to step on the property ladder, many like to keep an eye out for the areas that are worth investing in.

Whether looking for a spot in central London that still offers you a sense of community or a patch further out that has a more town feel than a big city feel, buying a property is more than the home itself.

That's why The Times has curated a list of the UK's best 25 postcodes to buy a home in, and three in London have made the list.

The list looks at the locations that are "improving the most" but not by "large-scale regeneration schemes" instead focusing on "improved transport links and new shops and restaurants, as well as the impact that arts, culture and entrepreneurial energy can have."

London's best postcodes to buy a home in have been named

The three areas in London to make the list were Forest Gate (E7), Tottenham (N17) and Brentford (TW8).

Forest Gate gained the highest spot on the list being placed fourth and was awarded the best place for location, education and recreation.

Praised for its "railway-arch restaurants and cafés, a zero-waste grocery shop" and the Elizabeth Line, E7 has a lot to offer.

In the region, three-bedroom terraces are typically on the market for less than £600,000 and there are large green spaces including a spot on Wanstead Flats.

It has also been praised by The Sunday Times Parent Powers with local St Anthony's RC winning the primary school of the decade prize in 2021.

Tottenham took the seventeenth spot taking the title for 'best place for excitement on and off the pitch'.

While the area may be best known for the Tottenham Hotspur stadium that has recently welcomed the likes of Beyonce and P!NK its surrounding area is not to be missed.

As The Times shared the stadium has made the local economy boom with High Road now offering "cutting-edge art and fashion at House of Bandits, as well as kebabs".

With connections to the Victoria Line, you can buy a flat for around £350,000 in Tottenham's N17.

Last but by far not least for London's best spots to buy a home, is Brentford, TW8 taking the 24th spot.

The Times honoured Brentford as the best place for "champagne views on a (craft) beer budget."

Described as a "Thames-side ugly duckling neighbourhood", Brentford is said to be "emerging as a waterfront contender thanks to the Brentford Project".

The project will see a 12-acre plot redeveloped in hopes of revitalising the high street along with new 'smart flats' that have pools and views of Syon Park and Kew Gardens.

While the completion date for the development is not until 2027, one-bed flats are on sale for £467,500.
