Two brothers and their dad have been convicted following the death of a man wounded in a machete attack.

Father and son – Elvis Grant, 51, and Jamal Grant, 31, both of Pitfield Way, Brent – were found guilty of the murder of 25-year-old Devon Jensen-Wallace last year.

Lamar Grant, 26, also of Pitfield Way, was convicted of Devon’s manslaughter after the trial at the Old Bailey.

Police said that the two brothers and their dad were suspected of being linked to a gang, and that officers had faced a “wall of silence” when investigating the killing.

The court heard that the three friends were near to Overton Close when they were set upon by up to three men, one of whom was armed with a machete and another with a baseball bat.

Devon and his friends fled the attackers but during the chase the 25-year-old was stabbed in the leg.

Cameras recording the pursuit showed the assailants encouraging each other throughout the pursuit.

Devon eventually ran into Henderson Close where he was found at around 6.30pm bleeding profusely from his right leg.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service attempted to save his life, but he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Police have claimed that their ensuing investigation was hampered by the suspected gang-related nature of the crime, as many potential eyewitnesses were reluctant to speak.

These included Devon’s friends who were with him when he was attacked.

Despite these difficulties, following a search of the Grants’ home, officers found the fingerprint of Lamar Grant and a sample of Devon’s blood on a black baseball bat in the kitchen.

Following the three men’s convictions, Detective Chief Inspector Joe Garrity said: “These defendants are suspected of being linked to a gang associated with serious violence.

“My team were faced with a wall of silence, even Devon’s friends would not speak to officers.

“However, seeing the fear these people created only made us more determined to bring them to justice."

He added that his team were ultimately able to “present a strong case” and bring Devon’s killers to justice.

Lamar and Jamal Grant were both arrested in June last year, with the arrest of Elvis Grant taking place in February of this year.

All three were charged with murder, with Elvis and Jamal eventually found guilty of the offence.

Lamar Grant was found guilty of the lesser charge of manslaughter, while all three were also convicted of perverting the course of justice.

They will all be sentenced in two weeks’ time on August 8.
