Free dance workshops by the world-famous Rambert dance company are being staged at Wembley Park as part of a “Summer of Play” programme on Sunday (July 16).

Rambert’s teachers lead the sessions, kicking off with Sheba Montserrat’s ‘Caribbean dance vibes’ with lessons about development of the dance and the moves.

“Dancing isn’t just about hearing music and looking good expressing it,” she says. “It’s about feeling the music and the conscious delight in embodying it.”

Sheba was one of the first artists in Europe to get a formal qualification in African and Caribbean dance through Birkbeck University.

Her Wembley Park workshops on Sunday start at 12pm and 2.15pm, with breaks.

Rambert is also giving free hip-hop dance sessions with freestyle for personalised styles.

The dance company aims to transform everyday spaces by taking dance to neighbourhoods to inspire and engage people of all ages and abilities to “get with it”.
