Firefighters isolated the electricity at homes near a brook after it burst its banks in heavy rain.

Homes in Tokyngton Avenue backing onto Wembley Brook were flooded as waters rose last night (Tuesday July 4).

Five fire engines and around 35 firefighters were called to the Wembley street just after 7pm.

A number of homes were flooded, causing water damage to their ground floors and back gardens, London Fire Brigade said.

Crews isolated the electricity in some of the homes as a safety precaution.

Firefighters worked to pump water out from the flooded properties, deploying a suction hose and a high volume pumping unit.

Control officers were first notified about the flooding at 7.12pm and the incident was under control by 11.48pm.

Crews from Wembley, North Kensington and Park Royal fire stations attended the scene.
