A north London man has been jailed for using multiple fake identities to fraudulently open bank accounts.

Ukachukwu Austin Dike, 46, who is from the NW9 postcode area in Brent, was jailed for 15 months at Harrow Crown Court on June 22.

He was arrested by officers from the National Crime Agency at an address in Nicoll Circus, Mill Hill on March 8.

Tom Barford of the NCA’s Complex Financial Crime Team said that the types of offences Dike was jailed for “are often linked to organised crime groups".

The court heard that Dike used three false identities and changed his name by deed poll.

He used those aliases to apply for new driving licences, and then opened online bank accounts and set up various companies.

Dike ultimately pleaded guilty to three offences of possessing and controlling false identity documents with intent.

The NCA’s Tom Barford said: “These types of offences are often linked to organised crime groups, who rely on the services of other criminals to facilitate further crimes and launder the proceeds.

“The NCA is committed to tackling high-harm fraud, and we will continue to target and disrupt those who enable offending which is harmful to members of the public.”
