Eight Just Stop Oil protestors have been arrested after allegedly failing to get out of a road they were blocking.

Police said that they were made aware that two groups of protestors were in Hanger Lane at 7.58am this morning (June 15).

Officers arrived at the scene four minutes later, and “imposed Section 12 conditions” on one of the groups.

Section 12 of the Public Order Act gives police power to impose conditions on public processions “necessary to prevent” disorder or disruption.

Police confirmed that this group then cleared the road by 8.20am.

After police imposed the same conditions on another group at Hanger Lane roundabout, some protestors still “refused to get out of the road”.

Eight activists were then arrested for allegedly failing to comply with police conditions.

Just Stop Oil confirmed on Twitter that 54 of their activists had been marching across London this morning to demand that the government stops “issuing new fossil fuel licences”.

Police said they arrested a further seven activists in Vauxhall Cross, and imposed conditions on protestors at Battersea Bridge and Shaftesbury Avenue.
