An abandoned car disrupted traffic after it was left next to a narrow bridge for two days.

The blue Toyota car was left in front of traffic lights at the bridge over Welsh Harp in Cool Oak Lane between Kingsbury and Hendon on Thursday (March 2).

It was not clear why the car was dumped, but damage to the front of the car suggested it had been in a crash.

Just days before on Sunday (February 26), a grey car had rolled onto its roof near the same spot.

Due to the inconvenient place it was left, other drivers had to manoeuvre around the blue Toyota and congestion built up near the traffic light.

One side of the vehicle was wrecked with a headlight missing and the insides of the car exposed.

The car was finally removed on the evening of Friday (March 3) hours after the Times made Barnet Council aware.

A spokesperson for the council said: “The vehicle had been moved by a third party when our officers attended.”

The Metropolitan Police said nobody had reported any crashes involving a car with that registration plate, and it is unclear whether the crash the Toyota was involved in was at the same location as the previous incident in Welsh Harp.

When police attended to the overturned car following the earlier crash on February 26, a driver was taken to hospital by the London Ambulance Service.

The driver was found to have non-life-threatening injuries and no arrests were made.
