A man was taken to hospital after reportedly being stabbed with a screwdriver in an attack in a newsagent.

A.P. Food Express Local, a small shop in High Road, Willesden, was cordoned off after reports of a stabbing on Monday (January 2).

Emergency services were called to the shop near Willesden Green Baptist Church at 5.40pm after a “short altercation”, the Metropolitan Police said.

Police say a man in his 20s was stabbed by a male suspect, who then left the scene accompanied by a woman.

The victim’s injuries are said to be neither life-threatening nor life changing.

One eyewitness claims there was “blood all over the place” and that the weapon used was a screwdriver.

It is understood that the shop only remained cordoned off for a few hours.

A Met Police spokesperson says the suspect is described as a black man with dreadlocks and wearing glasses.

Local CID officers are investigating the stabbing. No arrests have so far been made.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting ref 4638/2 Jan.
