A PETITION to save a tree is backed by the borough's nature loving residents and a councillor.
Brent Council was set to cut down a tree in Purves Road, Kensal Rise, but Cllr Simon Green and residents argued it is not damaging property and want an urgent review. Cllr Green, Liberal Democrat for Queen's Park, said: "There needs to be a balance between real danger and keeping the beautiful trees we have in Brent alive so residents can enjoy them."
He agrees with the residents that the balance has not been struck. The petition states: 'We, the undersigned, call upon Brent Council to not remove the mature tree from outside 148 Purves Road. Instead we call for further investigation of the causes of any perceived housing damage.'
