A disused library garden, has re-opened three years after it fell into disrepair
Volunteers rescued Kilburn Library Garden in Salusbury Road, Queen’s Park, which was officially opened by four-year-old Sid Wilson, the youngest volunteer, when he untied a pink ribbon.
The volunteers raised 570 through the sale of tea and home-made cakes and plants.
Avril Mackintosh, of the Kensal Triangle Residents’ Association who organised the clean up, said it was “a tremendous day”.
She said: “It was brilliant and the weather was fantastic. We had so many people visiting because we’ve spent so much time on this and it was something a little bit different.”
“We had lots of positive comments and lots of tweets. We hope more people will use the library. The park is a quiet place to sit and read.”
