Schools celebrate the end of term
Carnival fever hit the pupils from a Wembley primary school last week at its summer fair.
More than 700 children wore brightly coloured costumes at the event in Oakington Manor School, which they made over two weeks during their lessons
After a lively parade, the youngsters enjoyed salsa dancing and tucked into food from around the world.
Simrita Singh, senior deputy headteacher at the school in Oakington Manor Drive, said: “Over the past two weeks pupils have been enjoying a project all about carnivals. They have been making costumes and learning how to salsa dance.
“The carnival was a perfect day. It is so important for the school community to come together and celebrate different parts of the world.”
Meanwhile, lucky Levi Dixon-Brown, eight, won 100 in the raffle at Braintcroft Primary School’s fete on July 1.
The fair, in Neasden, was sponsored by local businesses Hoopers Estate Agents and Family Bargain Store.
Karima Peerwani, year six teacher, said: “A big thanks needs to go to the school community and sponsors which supported the event.
“We want to make Braintcroft the hub of the community and reach out to children and families who would not normally get involved. This was the second fair we have organised and it was the most successful yet.”
Revellers also descended on Preston Park Primary School, in College Road, Wembley, on July 2 where they had fun in the sun.
