Police investigating the murder of a Wales football fan who died after being attacked outside Wembley Stadium have made a seventh arrest.

Michael Dye, from Cardiff, was found with head injuries on Tuesday evening near Gate C of the Brent venue before England played Wales in a Euro 2012 qualifier.

The 44-year-old died later in hospital and a post-mortem examination showed cause of death to be blunt trauma to the back of the head.

A 41-year-old man was arrested in Worcestershire on Friday night on suspicion of murder.

He is currently being held at a West Mercia police station.

Six men earlier arrested inside the ground in connection with the inquiry have all been released with no further action.

Police are appealing for the public’s help and have released a CCTV still of witnesses they wish to identify. The still shows people at turnstile C before the match.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Sheila Stewart, leading the investigation, said: “I am appealing to anyone who recognises any of the witnesses in the CCTV still released today to please come forward.

“This incident has emerged from a moment of brutal violence with catastrophic consequences leaving behind a family without a son, husband and father. It is imperative that we have the public’s assistance to identify those involved.”

Anyone with information should call the incident room on 020 8358 0100 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
