Students from Crest Academy baked delicious delights in support of the Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity

Kind-hearted pupils enjoyed the sweet taste of success after they raised more than 100 for a children’s hospital.

The students, who all attend the Crest Girls Academy, in Crest Road, Neasden, raked in 120 through a cake sale with all proceeds going to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

Curious to see how their work was being spent the girls, who are all in year nine, visited the charities headquarters in Bloomsbury.

Fiona Deegan, Assistant Principal at the Crest Girls Academy, who accompanied the girls on their visit praised their spirit.

She said: “The girls were delighted about how much money they raised and they really wanted to know that it would make a difference. “Teenagers are often portrayed as selfish or irresponsible; these girls prove that this stereotype is not accurate.

“The fundraising was their own idea and they organised the whole event themselves.”

The girls kept a video diary of the whole process, from organising the cake sale to making their donation which will be shown to other pupils, to illustrate how every pupil can make a difference to others.

Karen O’Keeffe, a member of the communications team at the charity thanked the girls for their donation.

She said: “Every donation really makes a difference to the lives of hundreds of children.”
