St Mary’s in Challenge Close has been awarded makeover fund by Mayor of London
An open space in Harlesdenis being transformed into vegetable patches, a play area including seating a designated space for ball games thanks to a £40,000 grant.
Work has started on the dramatic makeover of St Mary’s open space in Challenge Close, following the cash injection from the Mayor’s office as part of a ‘pocket park project.
The scheme will result in 100 urban spaces across London being converted into a ‘mini-oasis’.
Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, said: “London is already an incredible place to live, but by making the most of our small forgotten outdoor spaces and providing trees, greenery and meeting places the fantastic quality of life here can still be improved upon.
“Through these mini transformations we can make Brent an even better place to live in, to work in and to invest in.”
Work on all 100 ‘pocket parks’ are due to finish by March 2015.
